PET BLOOD BANK

For the first time ever, we’re running a free blood typing event at Vets Now Pet Emergency  Hospital Swindon to mark World Blood Donor Day on Wednesday 14th of June 2017.

Vets Now have kindly offered to help us with this event in honour of the 10 years we have been working together.

Knowing your dog’s blood type is invaluable should you ever be faced with an emergency situation, and we would like to offer local dog owners the opportunity to be equipped with this piece of information.

Not only this, their dogs will also be invited to give blood at a later date to help save the lives of others.

Our current stocks of negative blood are low so the event is only open to fit and healthy dogs from the following breeds who we know from our research tend to be Negative:

 Airedale Terriers  American Bulldogs  Border Collies  Boxers

 Dobermanns  Dogue de Bordeaux  English Bull Terriers

 Flat Coated Retrievers  German Shepherds  Greyhounds

 Lurchers  Old English Sheepdogs  English Pointers  Weimaraners

Should this event be a success, we hope to run more days in the future and open it up to all large dogs.

If you could share this information with your members in the Swindon area, it would be really appreciated. To come along, all they would need to do would be to book an appointment here to have them blood typed for free.

The link is also available here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/free-blood-typing-event-in-celebration-of-world-blood-donor-day-tickets-34503894076.

Each appointment lasts up to 10 minutes and they can be booked on a first come, first served basis from 9am to 7pm on Wednesday 14th of June.

Please help us make this year’s World Blood Donor Day a great success, and blood typing a must-have for any pet owner.
